Ancient Egypt-Kemet was very detailed when building ancient monuments, pyramids, observatories, and temples making sure to align some of their structures precisely according to celestial events. The ancient Egyptians were very aware of celestial events that took place in the “Heavens” and how these events impacted everything on Earth. 

Based on advanced knowledge of astronomy, cosmology, mathematics, and astrology, they built specific places on Earth to keep track of cosmic events. Celestial events can provide seasonal cues, but why did the ancient Egyptians align monuments with the moon and stars?

8. On the spring and fall equinoxes, an unusual phenomenon occurs at the Great Sphinx and Pyramid of Khafre. A direct view of the rising sun can be seen when it reaches the right shoulder of the Sphinx on the date of either equinox. As the Sun sits behind the Sphinx at the southern corner of the Pyramid of Khafre (the Second Tallest of the Three Pyramids), it is also at this angle that the Sun appears behind the Sphinx.
