The ancient ruins of the Mayan City of Palenque were established around 1800 B.C., in Southern Mexico. Palenque was a key city of the ancient Mayan civilization, which dominated present-day Central America for almost two thousand years. Despite being surrounded by the jungle, this ancient civilization managed to build an advanced functional city, able to support a huge population roughly 30 times the current population.
Scholars have deemed the Mayan civilization to be one of the most complex and sophisticated ancient worlds with advanced achievements in astronomy, architecture, agriculture, and engineering. Time and celestial events were very important to them. By the 9th century, the Mayan people vanished and the cities were abandoned. One thing of high importance that was left behind is the Sarcophagus of The Mayan Lord Pakal.

As a result of Lord Pakal’s efforts, Palenque was transformed from a destroyed city into one of the most important. The inscriptions and monuments he left behind are among the most significant in ancient Mayan civilization.
In 1948, a four-year excavation began at the most famous pyramid in Mayan history, the Temple of Inscriptions. Into King Pakal’s tomb is an enormous sarcophagus lid. The Mayan artifact is perhaps the most controversial artifact ever found. You can ask 100 people what they see when they look at it, everyone may have a different view.

However, according to Alien Philosophy, the image on the sarcophagus shows the King seated at the controls of a spacecraft and has dubbed him, “The Palenque Astronaut” or “The original Rocketman.”
According to Alien Philosophy, Lord Pakal’s lid, depicts him going into space in his spacecraft. The King is sitting in a cockpit at an angle upon liftoff, manipulating some controls with a breathing apparatus or telescope in front of his face. His feet look to be on a pedal and at the bottom, it looks like an exhaust with flames.
