The Timeline of the Ancient Holy Week
Jesus Christ, also known as Jesus of Nazareth, an Ascended Master; is one of the most influential figures in history and the central figure of Christianity. Jesus was not from Earth, He was Divinely born of the Virgin Mary. For billions of Christians, He is more than a historical figure, He is the Son of God, the Savior, the Messiah, the Anointed One, and the Light of the World.
His life, ministry, death, and resurrection offer hope, redemption, and eternal life to all who believe and accept Him as their personal Savior. During His Earthly life, Jesus taught love, mercy, empathy, consciousness, and Truth. He performed otherworldly Divine miracles such as healing the sick, casting out demons, walking on water, and raising the dead (Matthew 4:23).

Who is Jesus?
Christ is the central figure of Christianity. While many recognize Him as a historical figure, teacher, and prophet, the Bible reveals that Jesus is far more than just a man — He is otherworldly, not of this Earth, (John 8:23) making Him one of the most significant religious figures in history, bridging the gap between God and humanity.
Most notable is Holy Week (Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday), the last week of Lent commemorating the final days of Jesus’s Earthly ministry, leading to His crucifixion and resurrection. Lent is a 40-day Christian observance of prayer, fasting, and abstinance that prepares for Easter (marking the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion), beginning on Ash Wednesday and ending on Holy Thursday. Collectively known as the Passion of Christ. Here’s your guide to the Ancient Holy week, a day-by-day breakdown:
Day One: Palm Sunday
Jesus fulfills the prophecy as King and Messiah
Jesus enters Jerusalem. The crowd took branches of palm trees, went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord, which fulfills the prophecy as King and Messiah (John 12:12–13).
Day Two: Monday
Jesus flips tables over in the Temple
Jesus went into the Temple of God and put out all who were corrupt and flipped tables over. Jesus said, (13) It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves (Matthew 21:12–19).
Day Three: Tuesday
Jesus teaches in the temple and claps back at religious leaders
The religious leaders were threatened by the way the crowds received and recognized Jesus as a spiritual authority and the Son of God and questioned Him (Matthew 21:23). Jesus claps back in His response (Matthew 21:24-40). He also spoke in parables to the people (Matthew 22).
Day Four: Wednesday
The famous Traitor: Judas betrays Jesus
Judas Iscariot was treasurer, one of the twelve apostles, and a close friend of Jesus. The Pharisees felt Jesus was a false prophet and plotted to eliminate Him. For the greed of 30 silvers, Judas cooperated with them by identifying Jesus and ultimately leading Him to His death (Matthew 26:16).

Day Five: Holy (Mourning or Maundy) Thursday
The Last Supper, Jesus washes his disciples' feet, and that night, He is arrested
Jesus and His disciples share in the Last Supper. At dinner, Jesus washes the feet of His disciples, telling them that He is going to suffer. He performs the Christian tradition of Communion (Matthew 26:26–28). After the meal, they go to the garden where He is arrested and taken to the High Priest for trial (John 18).
Day Six: The Crucifixion (Good Friday)
Jesus is crucified on the cross and placed in a tomb
Jesus went to trial for the accusations and was found guilty. Jesus was given a crown of thorns and forced to carry a heavy cross through the city and up Mount Calvary, also known as Golgotha. He was nailed to the cross alongside two criminals. At the ninth hour, Jesus breathed His last breath (Matthew 27:46). Friday evening, two men placed His body in a tomb and rolled a stone over it (Matthew 26 and 27).
Day Seven: Holy Saturday
Jesus is at rest, and the tomb is sealed
Jesus’s body rests in the tomb while His followers and family mourn His death. Jesus promised He was going to rise again after three days. The leaders requested that the tomb be guarded so no one could steal the body. A seal was put on the stone, and a guard was placed at the tomb (Matthew 27:62–66).
Day Eight: Resurrection Day (Easter Sunday)
Jesus is Risen, and Eternal Life is given
On Sunday, or Easter, several women close to Jesus went to the tomb to find the stone rolled away and Jesus gone. An angel announces, “Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay” (Matthew 28:5-6). Resurrection Day is the foundation of faith, the belief that Jesus rose on the third day, proving His Divine Authority and power over sin and death to offer forgiveness, redemption, and a direct connection to God to His people.
Holy Week is a powerful observance of Jesus’s sacrifice through His death and resurrection. Humanity has access to forgiveness, a new life, and a restored connection with God. Jesus is more than a religious icon — He is the cornerstone of salvation, an Ascended Master.
